Greater Waikato Railway Modellers Inc.

Leamington Domain, 12 Scott Street, Cambridge, New Zealand

As our abreviated name (GWRM) implies, most of our models are inspired by the Great Western Railway of south-west
Britain. Although we are based in Cambridge, our members are drawn from all parts of the Waikato, and we even have some ‘country members’ from as far away as Taranaki.

Changes of Opening Times

For those not in the know, Sunday 2 February was the last day that the Big Trains were able to run at Leamington Domain until late May.  The playground is being revamped and will be in the hands of contractors from Wednesday 5 February until around sometime in May.  Note: They are running about 5 weeks behind so looking at mid June now!!!!!!!!!!
The contractors have erected a safety/security fence around the area which includes all of the existing playground up to the croquet green, the petanque pit, tunnel, and public toilets.  The enclosed area therefore includes the Big Trains track with no indication as to whether they may have access to it before the end of the contract.  They have just been told to suspend activities until its ready.
A new pathway from the play area to the current 'netball' car park has been completed in front of the clubroom so there may be additional foot traffic and bicycles from now on. So just take care.

Revised Public Opening Times

As there will be nothing to attract families to the domain (other than us), GWRM has changed our regular public opening times to: First and Third Sundays open to Public 10am-1.30pm and Second and Fourth Sundays - Members Only from 10am.
